Prince Harry joins Coldplay on stage for HIV benefit gig (US Magazine)

On Tuesday Prince Harry took to the stage at Kensington Palace to join Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, for their song ‘Up & Up’. The concert was raising funds for the Prince’s charity, Sentebale, which raises funds for children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. This is the latest move that shows the two princes following in their late mother’s footsteps.

Claus Grue of the World Council of Churches opened their 23-28 June world congress this week with the statement that two million people around the world become HIV positive every year.

Dr. Isabel Apawo Phiri, WCC associate general secretary, said that her family and friends had been directly affected by HIV/AIDS and stressed that HIV and AIDS is a “medical condition and not a moral condition”.

MTV is the latest tool to tackle HIV in Africa (World Bank)

The MTV Staying Alive Foundation has produced a new television drama that targets African youth, and delivers information on sexual health, HIV and relationships in an engaging way.

The show, starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, is broadcast in over 70 countries, reaching over 750 million people worldwide The first two seasons were filmed in Kenya, the third season was shot in Nigeria, a country that has 3.3 million people with HIV/AIDS — 9% of the global total.
